POSITION: Assistant Professor - Business Technology Education
- Tenure-track, 9-month appointment
- Beginning August 16, 2000
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate (A.B.D. acceptable) in business education or related discipline
- Previous teaching experience at the middle or secondary school level
- Expertise and/or experience in business education subjects such as computer applications, business communications, and office administration
- Knowledge about, and experience with, teaching and learning, cultural differences and exceptionalities, and their instructional applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by willingness to work collaboratively with University and public school colleagues
- Potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Business Technology Education and Office Administration courses.
- Supervise students during clinical experiences.
- Recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in curriculum and instructional development.
- Provide services to local school systems.
- Advise student organizations.
- Participate in department, college, professional unit, and University committees.
- Sustain a program of scholarly research and publish in appropriate professional journals.
- Seek external resources through grants and contracts.
- Participate in appropriate professional organizations.
SALARY: Salary for this nine-month, tenure-track position will be based on qualifications and experience. Opportunity for summer employment is excellent.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The University of Southern Mississippi’s main campus is located in Hattiesburg, the educational and medical hub of south Mississippi. The Department of Technology Education is administered through the College of Education and Psychology. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are available in Business Technology Education and Technical and Occupational Education. A master’s degree in Instructional Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Office Administration are also available.
