Assistant or Associate Director of Admissions

Macalester College has created a new position for an Assistant or Associate Director of Admissions who will have primary responsibility for the collection, management, and analysis of research data relating to admissions and financial aid. Duties will include managing all aspects of data integrity, overseeing computer and data base operations, producing reports, maintaining on-line application for admission, and computer training for staff. Research projects will include: analyzing inquiry, applicant, and enrolled student data; demographic market analysis; strategic analysis of financial aid awards and packaging; Student Search analysis; evaluation of various aspects of the recruitment program; and other projects related to meeting enrollment goals.

The position will involve working collaboratively with many people, including the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, the Director of Institutional Research, computing and information technology staff, the Director of Financial Aid, data entry staff, other admissions/financial aid staff members, and other constituents.

Although the position will primarily focus on research, some general admission officer duties (interviewing students, reading applications, making public presentations, travel) may be required during peak periods in the office.

Experience in admissions and financial aid is highly desirable. The position requires a bachelors degree (masters preferred) and experience in most, if not all, of the following: statistics, data collection and analysis, computer programming, systems design or implementation, training, and research. Knowledge of the Enrollment Planning Service (EPS), the Admitted Student Questionnaire (ASQ),CARS, SAT/ACT reports, PowerFAIDS, Impromptu, PowerPlay, and SQL is desirable.

Necessary qualities include the ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team. Attentiveness to detail is as important as the ability to think strategically on a broad scale. Strong analytic abilities and interpersonal communication skills are imperative, as is the willingness to work long hours when necessary. Experience with a small, selective, residential, liberal arts college is desirable, though not required.

This position will report to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with priority given to those received by July 7. Starting date is negotiable, but preferably no later than August 20.

Research Analyst

Binghamton University of the State University of New York (SUNY) has an opening for a RESEARCH ANALYST in the Office of Student Financial Aid and Employment. This newly created position was designed to support the increasing needs for data collection and analysis in management of office processes, funds and enrollment management.

Responsibilities include:
Prepare statistical and analytical reports; collect and format data for reporting; develop, maintain and manipulate computerized databases. Develop forecast and trend information for reports. Establish and maintain appropriate computer files for efficient data retrieval. Conduct studies to assist strategic planning, budgeting, and decision making. Provide daily support of management of office processes by developing and producing ad hoc queries. Create specific reports used for Common Data Set (CDS) and the Federal Quality Assurance Program (QAP).

Qualifications/attributes:
Familiarity with research methodologies and statistics; SAS, Excel, or other data analysis software required. Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred. Experience with financial aid data and/or working in a financial aid office is preferable. Working knowlege of financial aid office current software package -Sigma System's Student Aid Management (SAM ) is a plus. Ability to think "out of the box"; multi-tasking of competing priroties and deadlines in a dynamic environment. Ability to contribute to positive work environment. Affinity for continuous quality improvement philosophy. Ability to adapt to dynamic enviroment and be a self-starter. Minimum salary $30,000.
