The Department of Special Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of moderate, severe, or multiple disabilities at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Department serves approximately 1000 students through an undergraduate program with sequences in all major disability areas, a master’s degree program in special education, and a doctoral degree program focused on teacher education and program administration. Forty-two faculty conduct the work of the Department.
Position: Tenure-track position at assistant or associate rank with a preferable start date of August 15, 2000. Nine-month position with opportunity for summer employment. Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; supervising theses/dissertations; maintaining an active research agenda; supervising professional practice; advising graduate students; and providing university and professional service. Evening and intermittent off-campus teaching is expected.
Qualifications: Applicants are required to hold an earned doctorate in special education or related area.
Experience teaching or providing direct service to individuals with moderate, severe, or multiple disabilities is required. Expertise in assistive technology, language/communication skills development, transition to adult life, and/or strategies for successful inclusion is preferred. Priority will be given to applicants who have a broad-based research agenda and a record of scholarly productivity.
